What I found made me smile, nod admiringly and steal.
Yep I lifted a few items off Gina Ann's list and it could have been way more. Here's what I added:
- to experience the world like a blind person for 25 hours
- take a shower under a waterfall
- perform a kind deed for 25 strangers and don't expect anything in return (challenge to Gina Ann: hey let's do that one on one day! If anyone else wants to join let's fix a date.)
- kiss in the pouring rain
- take a vow of silence for 25 hours
Apart from scanning for items I'd like to add it was a great experience reading another person's list. It makes you marvel at how different we are in some areas, how the world is changed by dreams of others that would have never occurred to me. Some items bring back great memories of roadtrips where I was loudly singing with open windows or milking a cow and it makes you realize that you are happy for the person who is to experience those cool things for the first time in their life. You are also happy for yourself when you remember the nice, random and funny things you have experienced and can relive them. Funnily enough it doesn't matter if you have met the person before or not because somehow you are on a shared mission anyway.
A few days ago I challenged a friend at dinner to start a bucket list right at the table. The first three items were slow to come because as a mum she was used to think about everybody else first. "I'm not that age anymore were you take a lot of risks you know." "Dear what's the risk in flying to the north of Finland, Sweden, Norway or Canada and hanging out there till you see the northern lights?". "There is none", she said slightly stunned and then she got in the groove, her eyes started to sparkle and soon that little scrape of paper was full of stuff, back and front side. Some things I hope we will experience together, some of it she'll do by herself or with her family. Whatever happens I'm sure that if we share these things with each other, we are more likely to pursue these wonderful experiences.
